I planned to visit Pilane sculpture garden/exhibit but realized the bike ride to would be over an hour and there were no taxis on Tjörn. The receptionists at Salt & Sill asked if I was interested on a day trip up the coast. Sure, why not?
Gunnar’s Båtturer & Charter picked me up on the dock of the hotel. We sailed an hour or more northwest, dropping off and picking up other passengers, before arriving on the island of Käringön. You can walk from south to north in 20 minutes. Tiny island. For lunch, I walked into Petersons Krog per recommendation from the boutique next door. The fish soup was frothy, light and fresh. Great with a local beer.
I ended the day with a four course dinner at the hotel restaurant. The highlight – gratinated scallops and prawns. And an amazing sunset.
