When I asked people what do to in New Mexico, most everyone said go to White Sands. It’s a National Park about 3 hours southeast of Albuquerque. And it’s covered in massive sand dunes.

I stayed in Las Cruces, an hour outside of White Sands, the night before visiting the park so I could get there first thing in the morning. Traffic stopped completely about 30 minutes outside of Las Cruces – a road closure. Closures are temporary and common because of nearby missile testing. MISSLE TESTING?!

Anyway, after the the road opened and I cleared the Border Patrol checkpoint (what is happening out here?), I made it.

Clear skies. Bright sun. Endless sand.
